After the interlude of Infernot (2024) full of guests, featurings and stylistic provocations, with “Something Wicked This Way Comes” the infamous industrial collective from Italy LA FURNASETTA returns to its origins, to the roots of industrial archaeology with a work that, at least in its intentions, would like to be a BLACK METAL HAUNTOLOGY inscribed within an industrial/ambient/noise context.
Only echoes of buzzing guitars, very few riffs and rarefied rhythms. Atmospheres that develop by evocation rather than by actual presence. As if the american gothic of Shirley Jackson was once again sounded by Earth, LA FURNASETTA prefers to evoke rather than tell: a perpetual rattle that does not seem to go out, the metal that discards the armour for an absolute death that never arrives.
This album comes at the end of a year where it has been tested and chiselled live many times until it is free from any superfluous frills or flourishes. The extreme synthesis of industrial doom.
FFO: MZ.412, Raison D’Etre, Diagnose: Lebensgefahr.
